Aviation Safety Network releases 2018 airliner accident statistics

The Aviation Safety Network (ASN) released the 2018 airliner accident statistics. A total of 15 fatal accidents occurred in 2018 resulting in a tragic loss of 556 souls. The deadliest accident happened on 29 October when a Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 was lost after take-off from  Jakarta-Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia, killing all 189 on board.

Loss of Control accidents remain the major cause of fatal aircraft accidents worldwide. According to ASN, accidents caused by Loss of Control were responsible for at least ten of the 25 worst accidents in the past five years.
